On February 13, 2013, Scot Sanborn and Jim Bailey were appointed to fill the two vacant Board of Commissioner positions for the Midway Sewer District.  The Board and staff, and hopefully the public they serve, would like to welcome each of these two gentlemen to the Board.

Mr. Sanborn, a life long resident of this community, has over 28 years experience in the building industry, running a successful business.  Scot is expected to bring a builder’s perspective to the Board, in addition to his other life experiences.  He has seen the District firsthand what it is like to work with the District so he can connect new sewers to the system.

Mr. Bailey, has over 33 years experience in the wastewater industry.  He has performed virtually every duty a sewer worker does.  He worked his way up from an entry level position to a high level supervisor.  He had obtained the highest level wastewater operator certification the Department of Ecology offers, level 4.  He graduated from Humbolt State University, in Arcadia, California, where he earned a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Biology.  Jim is expected to bring a wastewater operators perspective to the Board.  He is well known at the Des Moines Marina, where he trades secrets about where the fishing is best.

Both of these new Commissioners are also rate payers and intend to help keep the Midway Sewer rates as low as practical without compromising the District’s commitment to protecting the environment and public health.
